I got into work today, and there was a meeting scheduled for 10:15 for the whole department. The only description of it was "Department Announcement". The last time we had a hastily scheduled "department announcement" we completely scrapped 90% of what we were doing. Of course, it could also be a gala event celebrating the fact that I'm now a full-time developer (well, sortof).

Stay tuned... Anything could happen.

Someone on our team got promoted. Phew.
Of course, it wasn't me, but at least we didn't all get sacked.

Boy with all the layoffs happening recently, i'm sure those meetings are scary! Are you guys in the trouble that Trilogy is?

Actually IBM (and thus Tivoli) are doing just fine. Oddly enough, I think that IBM does better in hard economic times. Companies gravitate towards the stability it offers.

Of course, we've had to tighten our belts to stay afloat. Now on Fridays we only have 10 types of beer to choose from, rather than several hundred.
