ze weekend. [May. 13th, 2001|02:37 pm]
Roy Janik
So I've just returned from My brother's graduation/birthday festivities in Houston. Here's a brief rundown. I left Austin around 5:00pm on Thursday, laden down with far too many clothes, my PS2, some light reading, and some money for my bro.

About halfway there, right outside of LaGrange, I got pulled over for speeding. 85 in a 70. My first speeding ticket ever. 7 months ago, I would have been shaking and nauseous. Now I was just vaguely annoyed. The whole transaction took about 5 minutes. The ticket is for 136 dollars, but I can take defensive driving. So total cost: 62 dollars for court fees, 10 dollars to retrieve my driving record, 20 bucks to rent the defensive driving video from Randalls. It sucks, but who cares. There are better things to worry about.

So I arrived in Santa Fe, and made my way to Bobby and Roger's place. They've got the pool all cleaned up, so I made use of it repeatedly. The water was actually just the right temperature. So Thursday night consisted of swimming and soundly beating Roger at ping-pong. Deer steak and sausage were cooked, and I ate way too much.

Friday was Roger's graduation at U of H. The ceremony was surprisingly short (at least compared to Alabama's), and the family was appropriately happy. So now all of the 6 siblings have graduated from college. Yay for our side! We retired to Darlene and Mike's for a celebration, devoured cake and ice-cream. I ate way too much.

Saturday was the day of Roger's giant crawfish celebration. He bought something like 100 pounds of crawfish, a keg of beer, potatoes, and corn (the Indians call it REALLY SPICY corn). There were kids everywhere, family members everywhere, someone broke their leg, and a good time was had by all. I ate way too much.

The end.

Can I use the "Maize" crayon where it calls for "yellow"?

Sounds like tremendous fun, and I'm jealous. I haven't had a good boiled crawfish (or, for that matter, REALLY SPICY corn and/or potatoes) in years. <sigh>

..but *I* just spent a week in Las Vegas hardly gambling. So there. :)

PS. Congratulations on the ticket, and welcome to our world. heh. Did you get frisked and/or your car searched?

Re: Can I use the

I hardly lost; because I hardly gambled; because I didn't win. :)

I turned $20 into $11 and decided there were better things to do with my money.
