Roy Janik, to discuss his plans, dreams, aspirations, etc... Here are some snippets from that interview:I still don't know what that means. I recently sat down with |
Roy: So at any rate, a few weeks ago I decided that if I was ever going to get anything done on my side projects, and not just have them wind up as crushed dreams, I was going to have to dedicate my "spare" time to them. I enjoy making progress on them, so why not. So that includes getting in shape, writing my story, organizing the production of the Immortal Human Skin Cells CD, the Dinosaur Moonpark games, practicing the concertina, etc, etc...
Bret Otis: So how's that working out for you?
R:Meh. For the most part, it's okay. The biggest hinderment to progress, believe it or not, is the internet. Most of the work I'm doing is computer-based, so when I'm struggling for inspiration, I can easily fall into the trap of just IMing my friends, refreshing livejournal, reading Sluggy Freelance. The sad thing is, I don't even go to that many sites. I just check the same ones over and over.
BO:So how do you avoid that?
R:(laughing) I don't, most of the time. It's only after awhile that I become aware that I'm doing it. Usually, at this point, I take a break and play the concertina.. badly, I might add. Last night, though, I went exercising with Mindy at the World Gym. It was a lot nicer than I thought it would be. Who knows, I may even buy a membership! It's very 80s in its decor, but they actually played decent music, and it wasn't that crowded.
More of that interview later... after these messages.
