State of the Roy [Sep. 10th, 2001|09:02 pm]
Roy Janik
Let's see. Things of note:

just had dinner with James, Haley, and Mindy at Gueros. The waitress had a chainmail bracelet, which made me think of the fact that the chainmail making machine is still in Wes's 4 runner, which made me think of the trip to IKEA, which made me think of the cheap, stackable stools I bought, which made me turn my head to look at them.

I spent 90 bucks on a textbook today. Agh. Introduction to Algorithms, 2nd Edition. The pissy thing is that I used to own the first edition, and I must have sold it or misplaced it.

Livejournal shirts are for sale: http://www.punctuate.com/sites/livejournal/thumbs.phtml and I just purchased one. The front has the livejournal logo, and the back says "Because you like to think people care..."

Filming for the Bastard Squad went well this past weekend. Dave and Richard, two new guys (relatively) did an outstanding job. We filmed the first of the "pygmy whale" sketches, which I believe was first conceived of when we were at the Gingerman downtown. In it, we mention "pie shoes", a brilliant concept by Hek-tor.

And I'm only buttering up Hek-tor because of what I'm about to say. This weekend during my show, I locked myself out of the station. Completely absurd, and for 10 lousy minutes, there was dead air (from 7:10 to 7:20 or thereabouts). Ryan came to my rescue and let me back in. Believe it or not, other than that the show went really well. The giveaway was given, and the guy who won requested a song that he had heard on the show some weeks back. Very cool.

Immortal Human Skin Cells is progressing, albeit slowly. I used the trip to IKEA to read my book, "Home Recording Made Easy". The next big thing is to buy a 4-track/mixer and start playing with it. Hopefully, a 4-track that writes to minidisc. That would rock.

I've got to complete defensive driving by Saturday. I'm taking it on defensivedriving.com. How silly is that?

I talked to my boss today, telling him I felt vaguely ill (which was true) and that I might be leaving early. Somehow we got to the subject of vacation, and I told him I might take some very soon, since I'd not taken any so far this year. He said, that yeah, I seemed tired lately. Whoops.

Class is going okay, if by okay I mean that I don't understand any of it. We got our first homework assignment today, and we've got nine days to complete it. We'll see.

I've not worked out for three days (Friday, Saturday, or Sunday). To avoid making it four, I'm going to work out... now.

El Sol Y La Luna is very nummy. Only it has weird hours for dinner. I was adopted by 3 28-year-old women there!
