and now for the irresponsible shopping trip [Feb. 2nd, 2002|09:01 pm]
Roy Janik
Just went to Savers and Ross. That was an experience. It was the grand opening of the Savers on N. Burnet, so naturally they had a really bad Elvis impersonator. Here's what I bought:

blue overcoat (to go over my blue coats)
blue 3 piece pin-striped suit
black wingtip shoes
blue tie
black skinny tie
blue button down shirt
tuxedo jacket with little red squares
suspenders

So a good portion of my purchases are going towards my new fashion plan, which is called "IBM Retro". Several of my teammates at work have been there a long time. And evidentially, everyone used to wear the exact same thing (had to, in fact): dark blue pin-striped suit, black wingtips, and either a blue, red, or yellow tie. So now I've got most of it. It's time to bring big blue back, baby.

Somewhere in the midst of all this acquisition Elvis went out to his car and came back as Buzz Lightyear. Sure the costume was stuffier, but at least he didn't have to do anymore karaoke.

Re:

Saver's is a really big thrift store, ala Goodwill or Salvation Army. I'd say about 2 & 1/2 times as big as your average Goodwill. Nothing special, but when shopping there, I've had extraordinary luck finding suits for myself. Plus, around holidays, they've been known to have storewide half-off sales.
