wah! [May. 15th, 2002|01:56 am]
Roy Janik
So I got pulled over by the cops twice today! Both times for my expired registration sticker. The sticker I can't get cuz I don't have the title. Argh. You see, I bought the car from this English guy at work who was moving back to England, and he had to sign a bunch of forms signing the car over to me (and the bank issuing the loan). Unfortunately (it turns out) he wasn't the owner of the car. His wife was. So the bank never got a new title, and never bothered to tell me this. Yeah! So I never got a renewal notice in the mail, and when I tried to find out why, I unraveled all this mess. I tried twice to get the English guy to get his wife to fill out the forms and mail them back, but so far it hasn't happened. And then, today, suddenly the cops care. But at least it makes for a good story. So both times they pulled me over I just rambled and ranted about this until they caved in and let me go.

Time to get ugly with the Brit.

I guess there's no way to withdraw payment until you get the title or something...
Maybe you should forge one. You got photoshop, right?

They probably hadn't heard that one before, so they believed you.

I imagine, if it comes down to it, it shouldn't be hard to get the back to get ugly with the Brit and save you the trouble. They, after all, are in quite the awkward position if the title never shows up. 1) They're selling you something they don't own, and 2) If you stop paying, they're SOL.
