He's packing his face with mud, he's dyeing his hair with blood [Jul. 17th, 2002|01:28 pm]
Roy Janik
I noticed a few days ago that I was a member of the painiacs community. I'm not sure how that happened, but it's fine by me. So I've added it to my friends list, and then also joined it myself again (to get posting rights). Several years too late, but it's good to see a Pain fan community online.

The first time I heard Pain was on the Lee and Wolfe show, live, hawking Goggins, which they had just released, I think. I heard Milk as I was driving home, and remembered thinking how much I liked it. I didn't know at the time that they were Tuscaloosa natives, as I figured they were just another touring band stopping off at Lee and Wolfe's show on Friday.

I think they sort of epitomize where I'd like to see music go in the future. Fun, happy (mostly), covering a wide variety of topics... just joyful, inspiring stuff. I think more bands today could stand to be storytellers, rather than whiny brats.

lala.

Nicole, how's the keyboard coming?
Mindy, how's the pennywhistle coming?
James, how's the bass coming?
Wes, how's the bodhran coming?
Scott, polish up yer gitar!
Chi-chi, did you fix your accordion?

I've yet to fix the accordion for two reasons:
1)I don't know where to take it
2)I don't have the money to spend on it right now
As soon as I fix number 1, I'll be sure to try to fix number 2.

What's wrong with it, anyways? Did you really break it during the chicken show, or was that my imagination?

It's been broken since I bought it off of ebay. It's missing a key, and there's this airy buzz that happens when I contract it.

It's going as ugly as ever.

I think I've discovered that when I joke about having no musical talent, I'm actually not joking.

Well, drink a little, take a break, and then go right on.

It's all about persevering, or however you spell that.

When my folks come down in August, I can get them to bring my cornet and trumpet.

Please do. I used to play the trumpet, too, so we can do some mid-show instrument swapping to astound the audience.

Re: Annie Onymous

You have to give me a clue, other than the fact that you're in Austin, and have acess to a cable modem.

Well, let the games begin indeed. Looks like you are already a step ahead of me. Any wild guesses?

Well, you're not anon-o-mouse, from earlier, unless you left Smith College, journeyed to Bristol, and then settled down in Austin.

And earlier you asked for a breakdown of the regular cast of characters who post to my journal, so you must not be someone I know extremely well.

hmmm.

Well that does narrow it down. You could start now and continue to guess for a long long time and still be no closer than you are right now. Im really no good at this. I did settle in Austin, but I wouldnt expect you to know that.

Wouldnt it be sad if I gave in that easy? I might be someone that you dont know. But that wouldnt make any sense. Where would the sport be in that? I can say that it has been a while. But time is relative. What is a zinereem anyway?

iocane powder

Well the obvious guesses would be Karen Tripp or Amy Elliot, if we go all the way back to Santa Fe, since I know that they were at least at one time in Austin.

Success, I have eluded you so far. I am not an Amy or a Karen. On another note I am trying to find out how to attain my proverbial 15 minutes of fame, the good kind that Andy Warhol spoke of. I dont want to do anything illegal or morally compromising. I realize that really limits my options but if you have any ideas I would appreciate them.

jenny or rachel, then. Probably Jenny.

And I've got about 1000 ideas on how to achieve fame, but all of them require a large deal of explanation, so I'll save it for another time.

I thought about it and Im not so attached to the morality clause, I just dont want to go to jail. That should really increase the possibilities. I dont even know a Rachel and I am not Jenny. But these are all excellent guesses. You cant know that many people.
