it's amazing.

As you may or may not know, I'm a big fan of space travel. I think we need to get real serious about it, and start setting up bases on the moon, sending men to mars, etc, etc. I think the key to this is getting the public invigorated about space again, so that both the government and private industry will be willing to spend money on it.

On a completely different subject, I weep for the state of current popular music. Untalented so-and-sos such as the Backstreet Boys, Britney Spears, Limp Biscuit and N'Sync should never be let near a mic ever again. I don't care what the next big thing is. Let's just hurry up and get there.

That being said, will someone please send Lance Bass into space already? A super-duper pop star orbiting Earth is going to simply do far more good for the space program than a 1000 probes or lobbiests ever could. Not to mention the fact that there's going to be a special show documenting his training and journey. Imagine it... an entire generation of teenage girls enamoured by the thought of going to space.

But that's not the real reason I wrote this entry. CNN's been following the story pretty closely, and in their latest article, they have an obvious joke caption, very much in the style of the Onion. Check this out:

"According to Bass, it's been an amazing week at NASA with an amazing space crew and an amazing international mission. "It's going to be amazing," he added."

heh. So yeah, teen pop star in space equals good news. Unless, of course, he blows up. Then we're boned. But what are the chances of THAT happening?
