pope [Dec. 7th, 2000|11:59 pm]
Roy Janik
Now I'm not the pope or anything, but I've been saying this for YEARS, especially when arguing with my siblings about whether or not it was necessary to obey the trappings of the church. Here it is, from the Pope at last:

The Pope has amended a Vatican pronouncement that the Roman Catholic Church was the "only way to salvation", saying that Heaven is open to all as long as they are good. He said at an audience that "all of the just on Earth, including those who ignore Christ and his Church" were "called upon to build the kingdom of God".

My point is that a true God would only want his children to be just and nice to one another, and wouldn't insist that they worship and grovel at his feet. And now, at least, the Pope agrees with me.

Just who does this pope think he is!

You can't just tell people that being good will get them into Heaven! That's just crazy! Maybe even crazy enough to work...
