Roy Janik
finally broke down and ordered a laptop. It's a Dell, and it's pretty powerful, as it's going to be my new primary system.

I mean, I'm justified, right? I'm a computer scientist, you know. And all those projects will get done much quicker if I'm at a coffee shop, right? RIGHT?

is there any other kind?

Actually, after working at IBM for 4 years, I can safely say that there are computer scientists that aren't mad... or even interesting. But some of us... mwahaha

Nope. But your energy savings will eventually pay for the laptop. You will also have 2 hours of computer time in case of a major blackout. In case you didn't already use a discount, Dell just sent me (and a few others) an email with codes for 15% off latitude and 10% off inspiron.

which begs the question, what do I do with my desktop? I guess I should keep it around for geeky purposes.

Re: just curious

Hmmm, well I definitely need Windows for some of my multimedia purposes (flash development, etc), and any work related stuff I do. But I wouldn't be opposed to some dual booting.
