Roy Janik

Max said that most of the time, the future was a straight path through the wilderness, and there was nothing anyone could do but walk down that path. You could try to crash into the trees and forge your own trail, but it was very, very hard. Rarely, he taught, ever so rarely, there would be a split in the trail and one could choose which direction to take. Max could see down all paths equally well, but usually he didn't even bother. Given a choice, Max said, most people went right.
