When I came back from Ireland, I found myself craving the brown bread I had there. I couldn't find any in Austin, so last night I made some. It actually came out pretty good. It's not quite as dark as the bread in Ireland, but it's just as dense and tasty. Fear me.

brown bread

There's a company called McCann's that exports a lot of food products from Ireland. I've tried their brown bread mix and their Irish oatmeal, and both were good. I've been able to find some of their stuff at HEB.

Re: brown bread

mmm... McCann's irish oatmeal... have you tried it with a little bit of hot chocolate mix and dark brown sugar mixed in?

Re: brown bread

yeah, their oatmeal is fucking great. And they apparently have a recipe for brown bread on their website. So even without the mix, I have something new to try.
