bah. This is sloppy as hell, but that's what I get for 1) being out of practice and 2) going for morning-after productivity.
Kanturk Polka, mp3
It's fitting I should do a mediocre job at playing the concertina today, though, because by all rights I should right now be at The Noel Hill Irish Concertina School in Cincinnati. It's going on right now, and I've gone for the past two years ( 2003 and 2004 ). But since I went to his school in Ireland this year, I couldn't justify another week of it. Still, it'd have been fun. And I miss all the people I only see once a year.
In instrument news, that ukulele most of you agreed I shouldn't buy was shipped yesterday, so pbbbbbbbbbbt. And at last night's ukulele lesson we finally got the banjo-uke in working order. Pops had it lying around, so I took it and put a new tuning peg in it, attached a new bolt for the resonator, got a bridge for it, and provided strings. It's a fun instrument, and Pops basically told me to borrow it forever, or as long as I wanted it. So now I got my banjo right here. And of course, Wally Carroll concertina #9 is just about done...
