Hey Roy, truth or dare?
I dare you to total your car.
Okay, in all fairness it's not really totaled. But it might be. The hood and front grill are smashed up, but oddly enough, it drives fine. But the mechanics seem to think that my insurance company will want to declare it totaled, which just means that it'll cost more to fix than it's worth. And then, apparently, I can buy it back if I want and get it fixed for cheaper? It is very complicated. So it's at the moonbase right now, and I may actually drive it into work tomorrow.
But let me back up. I stayed up all night last night cleaning the Moonbase. It's pretty damn clean right now, for me anyhow. I did this because my sister Julie, her husband Jon, and my two nephews Alec and Nicholas were going to flee Houston and come stay with me. Dana, Misty and Harley were going to do the same. However, due to the crazy traffic gridlock, both groups decided to stay put. So around 11 I decided to drive into work. Unfortunately, there was this car stopped and turning left along the way that I did not see until it was too late. My hood crumpled up nice and good, even though I did very little damage to the other car. Hrm.
So after exchanging info, I drove home, and cleaned out the car. I decided to drive aross town to Great Hills Automotive in the Arboretum area since I trust them. They made sure there was nothing wrong with the engine and so forth and sent me on my way. So the next step is to get it appraised.
I really don't want to be paying on a new car loan, so we'll see. The Black Ranger, as I never call my car, has been faithful for what, 5 years or something? I'm not sure what kind of car I'd look for next. The only thing I know is that I want it to be tiny. I love the mini cooper, but that'd mean getting a new car more or less. And plus, my nemesis has one.
The day looked up, though. Kareem and I went to the Improv Benefit for Hurricane Katrina, and I won one of the raffles. Free icecream, 20 dollar Waterloo gift card, and a 50 dollar dinner for two at the Boatyard Grill.
