*clap*... *clap* [Nov. 17th, 2006|07:52 am]

I want to make a montage of all the movies that end in a slow clap... you know, the ones where the hero gives a speech or finally speaks their mind or confesses... and then one person starts clapping very slowly and deliberately in the audience... and soon others join in, until it builds to this crescendo of clapping and cheering and hollering. And then cue some music (Smashmouth) and roll credits.

So help me out. What are some movies that end this way? I can think of none, though I've seen tons.

The end of Unforgiven would be a funny contrast, though that probably only works in my mind.

Of course, "Not Another Teen Movie" has to be on the list...

cliche!

Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets

Plus SNL (Phil Hartman era) had a fantastic skit about slow clapping. Not a movie, but definitely worth a mention.

another one I think

I think at the end of "Scent of a Woman" too. Maybe, it's been a while since I've seen it. I am sure there are more I just have to think about it. :)

Re: another one I think

if at all possible, i would suggest staying away from movies that are making fun of the "slow clap". i think the video will be much more effective if you use movies where the slow clap is supposed to be genuine and heart-moving. your video sounds like comedy gold.

Bill and Ted's Excellent Adventure? Right after their presentation with all the great historical figures. I can't remember if that starts as a slow clap, but I know it was definitely an awkward clapping moment.

I'll spare you most of it

Thumbing through my DVD database...

Sadly, there's not one in Anchorman.
Definitely not in The Black Hole.
Not Chicken Run, though there should be.
Nobody clapped for Garden State.
Ooh, there's a scene in Ong Bak - The Thai Warrior where people start throwing coins instead of clapping. Is that good enough?
Seems like Super Troopers would have been perfect for one. But no.

I am disgusted with myself for not being able to think of any, but I think that is an EXCELLENT idea.

It could easily become a youtube hit if done correctly.
