My brief flirtation with hacking my IPhone has come to a halt. There was this nifty way of cracking it called jailbreaking that would let you install unsanctioned applications onto it. I had an instant messenger client, some puzzle games, a flickr uploader, a pseudo-GPS program, and my favorite... Yahtzee.

But the new update to the IPhone came out today (1.1.1), and it had enough new stuff (louder earpiece volume, Wi-Fi Itunes Store, bug fixes) to make it worth getting. Now, of course, the method of installing new applications is broken. Maybe it'll be fixed, but in the meantime, I'm back to the plain-jane model.

But still no way to change the text message sounds? Because I could go for days and never know I have a text message. Or a phone call, for that matter. I can't even hear the damn thing ring if it's in my purse.

You actually can change the text message sounds now. My phone rings pretty loud when it's at max volume, though. But I guess I don't have a purse.

lol - well, I wouldn't judge you if you did, I just have missed a ton of phone calls when my purse has been ON my shoulder and I still couldn't hear it ring.

And YAY! Updating now. :-D

Maybe you'll start paying attention to your girlfriend now instead of your iGirlfriend.

a simple "DORK!" would've sufficed.

But I can just yell that at you in real life anytime I want.

As a real dorkgeek, I avoided the iPhone for exactly this reason.

Also, I also have a cellphone and it did not cost $400. But I digress.

Apple... Apple makes very good products but their entire business model is predicated around vendor lock-in. It's insane and I don't appreciate it.

I may be getting a Mac soon if only because it's really above-and-beyond when it comes to filmmaking, but truth is I'd really rather not.
