Oh man. I just picked up the audiobook version of the first book of the Illuminatus! Trilogy, and it is freaking fantastic so far. I read the books in high school, and they more or less blew my mind. I'm not even sure I like them all the way through or can recommend them completely... but they're such a huge head trip that it's totally worth it. But the audiobook is awesome, because it's read by someone who's snarling and british and sounds exactly like... i dunno... Snape? Fagen? Some random British vagrant? Anyhow, it's drastically different than any other reading style I've heard so far... there's so much personality. And he does a brillaint job of snapping back and forth b/w the narrator and the characters, sometimes even mid-sentence... which, if you're familar with the Illuminatus! Trilogy is absolutely essential, as the narrator itself is hopping into different characters and consciousnesses. I've only listened to like 20 minutes out of 13 hours, so we'll see how it goes.

Here's a sample:

Ah, boo. Parts 2 and 3 appear to read by someone else, at least in part. Someone bland.

Wow, yeah. Deeply formative books in high school/college. An audiobook version. Wow. Yeah. Must have.

Oh, and P.S. - Did you ever read the "Schrodinger's Cat Trilogy"?
