improv resume [Nov. 5th, 2009|01:30 pm]
Roy Janik

I made an improv resume. I'm not sure why, really. I have sections for shows, teaching/coaching/directing/producing, workshops I've taken, and festivals I've performed at.

It looks impressive to me, but I'm not sure it would mean much to many people.

The one thing it does do is remind of the sheer amount of stuff I've done in the past 5 years. Sure, it's wrecked my health (more on that later), and my house is missing some TLC (more on that later), but it's been an action-packed time... the kind of time you look back on and say "Jesus, what was I thinking?"

Even more specifically, it's awesome to look back on that list and realize just how much I've done with Kaci over the years. How many couples get that chance? We've done a hell of a lot, and that's wonderful. Kaci is always saying to me that rehearsals and performances don't count as us spending quality time together... something about doing improv with up to 8 other people doesn't strike her as romantic. I see her point, because I'm contractually obliged to see her point, but looking back on it, there's a whole lot of quality time there. And I'm stupidly proud and honored and lucky that I got to do all those things with my now wife.

That's so awesome! I know the feeling, ever since I've been with Eric, my creativity has skyrocketed, with him and alone too. So much art in the last 2 1/2 years! When you really marry the right one, it just all falls into place and nothing stifles you!
