If I could run fast, as fast as the Flash, or be as cool as Ash in Army of Darkness.. [Jan. 22nd, 2001|09:06 am]
Roy Janik
Okay, slight dilemma.

Say some boy hypothetically thought some girl was intriguing, but that she worked in the food industry (i.e., a cafe' or somesuch). Also say that he has no idea what her schedule is, so he just has to sort of randomly show up and hope that she's there. Which means that he ends up eating way too much food, and not seeing her once. What's a boy to do? I suppose he could walk in, scour the place, and leave, but that might seem a little odd. He could also... Oh, who is he kidding? What the hell's he going to say to her, anyways?

Perhaps just go in once in a while, and if she's not there, just order a small drink or something and wait a day or so and try again? This way, the "hypothetical" boy isn't eating tons of food, but still gains some idea of this girl's schedule?...

And I'm sure this boy has plenty to say.

This boy has plenty to say, unless it's really important, and then he's at a loss for words. And, by the way, he WILL be seeing her soon. So wish him luck. Nothing will be hinted at on this first meeting, but you've got to start somewhere. Small steps.

i say if it's the type of establishment that lends itself to hanging out and reading, order some coffee/a drink, etc or something small and do some reading/writing. i think that's a good way to slowly work your courage up. this is from a girl who has bought so many unnecessary cds/movies/loaves of bread in order to check out a cute boy.

forgive any oddness in this reply. brain still asleep. good luck to whomever this "hypothetic" person is. fingers shall be crossed...

Actually, that's precisely what I've been doing, bringing my notebook in and working on my Firebrand story. I still need to get over the hump about not feeling guilty when I just order a drink or somesuch.

i notice (according to your journal) you've been making an awful lot of trips to katz's lately.

and momoko's, which has cute alternative-type waitresses.

and mojo's, which has a cute alternative-type waitress who talked to you and really got your mojo flowin', so to speak.

so which one is it?

you don't have to answer my intrusive question, but if you don't, I'll print out your picture and go around to all the waitresses at your haunts asking, "have you seen this guy? if you do, please move away from him as quickly as possible, without alarming him, and immediately inform the police."

we (i.e., "you") can either resolve this the simple way, or we (i.e., "me") can handle it the way that I just suggested.

the choice, my friend, is yours.

I dunno. I think I'll follow through with my plan, just to be on the safe side. Thanks for your cooperation, and the recent high-quality picture of yourself with the new haircut.

sincerely yours, warhol.

thanks, but i won't be needing you now

you've given it away; in the end it was your carelessness and lack of cleverness which were your undoing. randall's, you say? yes.... the signs were all too clear, I should have seen that from the beginning. the whole "food services" thing, the part about buying too much food.... now I know where to look, and it hasn't cost me a penny!

(PS: which randall's?)

Didn't I teach you *anything* in college??

After work one night, preferably a cold one, dress as dark and scary as possible (got a long black cloak?), approach her place of employment, and once you've found her, walk right up to her, place your heavy black gloves on the counter, and ask her to have dinner with you after work.

Then, over dinner, be sure to find out about any cults, clans, orders, or covens she might be a part of. It could be important. :)

Re: Didn't I teach you *anything* in college??

You know the fact that the cookie girl turned out to be horribly racist wasn't the worst part. The worst part was that she made us listen to some god-awful skinhead band(Screwdriver... why do I remember that?) singing Sweet Home Alabama. Oh, dear lord, it's available on Napster.

Ahh, the distant crush...

I once had a thing for this guy who worked in the food industry. I would pass by his store every day after school, hoping to get a glipse of him..... To make a long story short, I ended up getting hired at his store (by his sister, the manager), we actually ended up dating for a while, and then I completely lost interest in him.
I guess this doesn't help your situation much, but sometimes I find that the fantasy is more exciting then the real thing.
